The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) is pleased to announce it has appointed Sarah Ryser, Director of Communications for the National Marine Manufactures Association (NMMA), to its Board of Directors.

Rachel Johnson Earns Certified Association Executive Credential

ASAE has announced that Rachel Johnson, Communications Director of the National Safe Boating Council has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE®) credential. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. Less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the CAE.

Wear It! Grassroots Support

As part of the 2013 North American Safe Boating Campaign (“Wear It!”), the National Safe Boating Council is offering a total of up to $35,000 in resources and funding to state agencies, organizations and other groups throughout the United States and Canada to help promote the campaign in their communities. The North American Safe Boating Campaign and this project are produced and supported under a grant from the Sports Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, administered by the U.S. Coast Guard.

IBWSS Partners Announce New Web Site

The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) and National Water Safety Congress (NWSC) have announced a new web site, www.IBWSS.org, for the 2013 International Boating and Water Safety Summit (IBWSS) being held in San Antonio, TX. IBWSS.org will offer options including online registration and the ability to download Summit information.

PRSA-NCC Honors National Safe Boating Council with Thoth Award for Outstanding Communications Program

The Public Relations Society of America – National Capital Chapter honored the National Safe Boating Council and agency partner Paul Werth Associates with a Thoth Award for the Integrated Communications – Nonprofit category for its 2011 “Wear It!” Campaign: Increases Awareness of Boating Safety at the 44th Annual Thoth Awards Gala, held on Thursday, September 13 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Winners of the award were recognized during the 2012 Silver Anvil Awards Evening held June 7 at the Equitable Tower in New York.

The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) officially launched this week BoatOnCourse.com, a website designed to help the recreational boater become more aware of the on-the-water navigation rules to enjoy a safer time on the water.

NSBC Training Opportunities

What is the recipe for success? Try one part ambition, one part training and you get the National Safe Boating Council’s (NSBC) training courses for professionals and the recreational boating public. The NSBC, as part of its mission to promote safer boating through education, outreach, and training, has developed two courses to address growing needs identified amongst professionals and the recreational boating public: Instructor Close-Quarters Boat Control Course and its Boating Safety Instructor Training Course.

Meritorious Public Service Award Given to Captain Fred Messmann

While in attendance at the
88th meeting of the National Boating Safety Advisory Council
(NBSAC) in Washington, D.C., Fred Messmann was given the
United States Coast Guard Meritorious Public Service Award. Mr.
Messmann retired from Nevada Department of Wildlife and is
currently the Deputy Director of the National Safe Boating Council
(NSBC).
