The NSBC board and staff have changed the name of our certification course to eliminate confusion on what our instructor trainers and instructors are certified to teach. The Essentials in Close Quarters and Open Water Boat Control course has been renamed “National Safe Boating Council Instructor Certification.”
The curriculum for the NSBC Instructor Certification will remain the same as the Essentials in Close Quarters and Open Water Boat Control course. Updated course materials will reflect the revised name.
NSBC Instructor Trainers are certified to teach TWO courses: NSBC Instructor Certification and Boat Control On-Water Training.
NSBC Instructors are only certified to teach Boat Control On-Water Training.
If you purchased a NSBC Instructor Binder prior to 2018, you don’t have the verified curriculum! Both courses were edited in 2018 to verify that they meet the EDU-1 On-Water Power Standard. Please purchase the updated binder.
